Founded in 2007 by Javier Romero, ChinaLink is a venture capital firm in Shanghai that has been investing into entrepreneurs, scientists, Nobel Laureates and visionaries that have built the companies that Today are changing the world for good. We are believers: We invest in seed to late-stage technology companies, across the AI, Cloud Computing, bio/healthcare, Smart Cities, Renewable Energy, and Sustainable Mobility. ChinaLink is the venture capital arm of The Gamma Consortium, an asset management and family office platform with more than USD 5 Billion of assets under management, including China New Era Technology Fund (CNETF)  with sovereign funds across the world.

We have invested in companies that have disrupted the world of business and the minds of human beings like Alibaba, Tencent, SpaceX, Sungrow Power, Hippo, etc. and launching some the most innovative startups  like CAS that will transform and digitalize the air quality that we breeze and will free humanity from pandemics and biosecurity threats; or C Therapeutics that will solve Central Neuro Systems problems hurting humans for decades.  

ChinaLink´s founder, Javier Romero, has been leading technology investments for the last 20 years in private and public equities of some of the most innovative companies in history. He is a Managing Partner at asset management company The Gamma Consortium (“Gamma”) regulated by the Hong Kong Financial Authority, Partner at SPF Capital private equity fund in Mainland China backed by the largest Chinese State Owned conglomerates and Chairman, CIO and CEO of ChinaLink VC. Most recently co-founding partner of China New Era Technology Fund (CNETF) RMB 100 Billion technology fund. 

Javier graduated from Deusto University (Spain) with a Bachelor´s Degree in Law and Economics. He is a qualified lawyer in Spain.  He also holds an MBA from Manchester Business School (UK) with honors and was an International Finance Graduate student at Johns Hopkins SAIS (Washington DC) and completed  the Executive Program at  Harvard Business School. Before ChinaLink, Javier worked as Corporate Lawyer for international law firms, as Head of Corporate Finance & Strategy at Arthur D Little, and Senior Finance Specialist at the World Bank and IDB. He has been Board Director of LGL Group (NYSE: LGL) in the USA and Board Director of Sungrow Power in China stock exchange (SHE: 300274).  He is currently Board Member of more than 12 technology companies.

We get involved when companies are just getting started or they are at crucial crossword in their development and growth. We have incubated market-defining companies and often work with a founder and their very first employees. Today we have active seed-stage teams working out of our offices, building what we believe could become the next outlier companies. Many of our seed investments have later become the most successful companies we’ve backed.

We are active board directors for companies with strong founding teams and powerful ideas. These companies are targeting large existing markets or strategic new markets.

We back companies that are further along in their journey. Our fund size and decades of experience in company scaling allows us to help accelerate company building at this stage in a meaningful way.
